This position is located in Brookings, South Dakota. This position is a 9-month, full-time, benefits-eligible position.
SDState is the state’s largest, most comprehensive university with over $94 million annual research expenditures, more than 200 academic programs and an enrollment of approximately 12,000 students. The teacher education program is CAEP accredited and offers undergraduate programming in Agricultural Education, Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, Family and Consumer Sciences Education, Secondary Education, and Special Education. Graduate programs include Agricultural Education, Curriculum & Instruction, and Educational Administration.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Teach high quality courses within Agricultural Education, Career and Technical Education, and general teacher education in various formats (face-to-face, hybrid, and online), develop curriculum, and mentor student teachers.
- Have an active and defined research agenda with plans for dissemination and potential for publication as well as actively seek external funding opportunities to support teaching and scholarship.
- Advise undergrad and graduate students.
- Provide service to the program, school, college, and university through committee participation and stakeholder collaborations, and supervise student organizations.
- Assist with the accreditation process for the education programs within the School of Education, Counseling and Human Development.
SALARY RANGE:
The salary for this position is commensurate with qualifications, starting at $70,000 for the Assistant Professor level.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Doctorate in Agricultural Education (or closely related discipline) by position start date.
- Minimum of three years agriculture teaching experience at the secondary level.
- Evidence of or strong potential for effective teaching in-person, online, and/or hybrid courses.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and across disciplines.
- Demonstrated research skills to conduct independent and collaborative research.
- Demonstrated effective interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Strong understanding of teacher preparation.
- Experience with supervision of student teachers or field experience.
- Strong potential for scholarly research, publication and attracting external funding in areas related to Agricultural Education or similar disciplines.
- Ability to work collaboratively with faculty from other degree programs in ECHD and a willingness to contribute to South Dakota State University’s land-grant mission.
- The potential to teach classes related to Career and Technical Education, Agricultural Education, Methods of Teaching, Agricultural Systems Technology for teachers, leadership, and general secondary teacher education courses.
- Ability to build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders and engage in related outreach.
