Position Summary:

Arkansas Tech University in Russellville, Arkansas invites applications for a full-time, tenure track position as an Assistant Professor in the Teaching and Educational Leadership Department within the College of Education and Health. The anticipated starting date is August 2025.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Teach a variety of undergraduate/graduate courses in the Teaching and Educational Leadership (TEL) Department, both face-to-face

and online, and supervise interns.

Effectively advise students.

Engage students in high impact learning practices.

Collaborate with faculty and public-school partners in the development, review, assessment, and maintenance of Teaching and

Educational Leadership programs.

Provide impactful departmental, college, university, and professional service relevant to the university, community, and state.

Assist in promoting TEL programs and recruiting students.

Participate in committee assignments and professional development activities.

Perform other related duties as assigned by the department head.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Understanding of the essential knowledge, skills, and dispositions required of contemporary education professionals, with a deep familiarity of the culture and dynamics of public schools.

Possesses exceptional organizational skills, effective communication abilities, and the capacity to collaborate productively within team settings.

Skilled in both written and verbal communication, with a focus on clarity and professionalism.

A collegial and supportive team member, committed to fostering positive working relationships.

Minimum Requirements:

A doctorate or ABD in curriculum and instruction, reading/literacy, elementary education, or closely related field.

A minimum of two years as a teacher of record in a U.S. public school K-6 or K-8 classroom. Applicable knowledge of elementary education pedagogy required.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in college teaching, particularly in elementary education, special education, literacy, and/or closely-related field preferred.

Experience in college online teaching preferred. Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with faculty, interns/field-based participants, and school partners preferred. Evidence of scholarly activity preferred.

Work Location, Environment, and Physical Demands:

Courses will be taught in Crabaugh classrooms. Online courses will require computer use.
