ABOUT USAO: The University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma (USAO) is a public liberal arts college located in Chickasha, Oklahoma, about 40 minutes from Oklahoma City, and is a member of the Council of Public Liberal Arts Colleges (COPLAC). It is charged by the Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education “to provide an outstanding general education program for the State of Oklahoma with strong offerings in the liberal arts and sciences. POSITION SUMMARY: The School of Education and Speech-Language Pathology at the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma (USAO) invites applications for a full-time, tenure track position at the Assistant Professor level effective Spring 2025.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The primary responsibility of the person filling this position will be to teach undergraduate level courses in the Deaf Education major program and in the Special Education minor program commensurate with the applicant’s qualifications and experience. Other duties include advising Deaf Education majors and minors, advising Special Education minors, advising ASL minors, recruitment for these programs, correspondence with the Oklahoma School for the Deaf, accreditation efforts and reports, maintaining office hours, supervising teacher candidates, serving

on committees, participating in university activities, and engaging in professional development/scholarly activity.

QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

Candidates with an earned Doctorate in Education are preferred. Minimum qualifications require an earned M.Ed., teacher certification in a Special Education or Deaf Education area, and a minimum of three years of teaching experience in a public school in a PK-12th grade level Deaf Education or Special Education classroom. Candidates with experience in accreditation may receive additional consideration. Selected candidates must demonstrate a high degree of individual initiative and high standards of personal and professional dispositions.
