Key Responsibilities

The Education Department at Juniata College invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Secondary Education starting in August 2026. The department currently offers Secondary Education programs in Biology, Chemistry, Earth and Space Science, English, General Science, Mathematics, Physics, Social Studies, and Spanish. Juniata College also offers programs in Early Childhood (PK-4) and Special Education (PK-12).

We seek a candidate with expertise in Secondary Education in one or more of the following areas: Science, Math, English, or Social Studies. The successful candidate will contribute to the strength and diversity of our existing education programs.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Teach undergraduate courses such as General Secondary Methods, Adolescent Development, and Foundations of Education
  • Supervise pre-student and student teachers in field placements
  • Support the integration of liberal arts and teacher preparation across the curriculum

Position Qualifications

* PhD, EdD, or a Master’s Degree with ABD status (defense expected by August 31, 2026)
* Minimum of three years successful secondary-level teaching experience
* Experience with teacher supervision, preferred
* Postsecondary teaching experience, desirable
* Demonstrated commitment to inclusive and equitable teaching practices

Selection of the final candidate is contingent upon successful completion of Act 153 clearances and background check.

Supervision Required/Given

This position reports to the Chair of the Education Department.
