Florida Southern College’s Lawton M. Chiles Center for Florida History and the Department of History & Political Science invites applications for a tenure-track position as Assistant Professor of History beginning in August 2025.

About our ideal candidate:

All candidates must have their terminal degree. The department seeks candidates who specialize in any area of U.S. history. The ability to teach a broad range of U. S. history courses is necessary. Those candidates who are prepared to develop a course in Latin American History are welcome to apply. Those candidates who have demonstrated a proven research agenda in Florida history are sought. Additional responsibilities will include assisting director of the LCCFH, academic advising, service on college committees, and continuing scholarship. Candidates should demonstrate an understanding of the distinctive nature of teaching at a small private college. Salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications.
