Department of Kinesiology in the Conway Medical Center College of Health and Human Performance at Coastal Carolina University invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor position beginning August 2026. We seek candidates who are committed to delivering engaging academic experiences that promote student success. Applicants must be teacher-scholars who establish research agendas involving undergraduate students and emphasize active learning. Our seven specialized labs support research in biomechanics, exercise physiology, nutrition, sport psychology, and motor behavior.
Minimum Qualifications:
Candidates must possess an earned Doctorate in Exercise Science/Kinesiology or closely related discipline by the time of the appointment (ABD considered, completed by August 2026); demonstrated ability or potential to teach effectively in both classroom and laboratory settings; commitment to student-centered teaching and active learning and potential to conduct independent research involving undergraduate students.
Preferred Qualifications:
Demonstrate expertise in the areas of Biomechanics and/or Motor Behavior; Certifications such as Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS); Tactical Strength and Conditioning Facilitator (TSAC-F); Certified Performance and Sport Scientist (CPSS), and/or Athletic Trainer Certified (ATC); experience with grant writing and potential to secure external funding; experience in developing new academic programs to include designing and delivering online courses.

Required Qualifications
Applicants must hold a doctorate in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, or a closely related field by the time of appointment (ABD candidates will be considered). Strong potential to teach in both classroom and laboratory settings and provide high-quality instruction across various Exercise and Sport Science courses and to mentor students in high-impact projects focused on applied human movement science

Job Duty
- Teaches students in the classroom, laboratory, and/or studio.
- Prepares content, syllabi, and University Moodle/curricular site for each course and/or lab assigned each semester. Communicates to students after reviewing assignments. Calculates and assigns grades (e.g., mid-term and final) through established procedures listed in the Faculty Manual and University catalog. Tracks and reports absences as directed by the Office of the Registrar.
- Pursues independent research to create and add to knowledge in a field or produces creative work. Develops and maintains a research agenda involving undergraduate students. Trains students in related research techniques and in creative production. Mentor students in high-impact projects focused on applied human movement science
- Posts and holds regular office hours each week per College and University guidelines. Engages in University-related activities including committee assignments, meetings, ceremonies, events and scholarly pursuits as prescribed in the Faculty Manual.
- Seeks external research funding opportunities.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
