Job Description:
This position requires an Area of Specialization in 19th and 20th century Continental Philosophy.
The successful candidate will have an Area of Concentration in African American and Black Feminist Philosophy – in particular the Black Radical Tradition. It is expected the candidate will contribute their skills to the building of a transdisciplinary Black Studies curriculum.
Responsibilities include undergraduate teaching – Including General Education courses in History of Philosophy and Ethics – as well as regular Departmental duties
Responsibilities:
- Teaching 12 credits per semester of upper and lower-level language courses.
- Holding conferences with students and regular office hours Involved in advisement
- Attending Departmental and University meetings
- Be involved in different committees and help move the Department in a positive direction
Minimum Qualifications:
- Doctorate degree in Philosophy preferred or eminent. 3 years of teaching experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Able to use different teaching modalities, face to face and online teaching (Blackboard).
- Work with students one-on-one to give additional help.
- Motivate and engage students in class.
- Has experience with diverse and non-traditional student bodies.
- Has a promising research agenda.
