The Department of Food Science & Technology at Virginia Tech seeks candidates for a 12 month calendar year (CY) non-tenure track Assistant Professor of Practice position. We are seeking an educator with hands-on food science experience (or other related field) who can provide technical and practical knowledge of food science related careers for our students. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing leadership within our undergraduate teaching program, and specifically provide oversight, guidance and instruction across our teaching laboratories. This position will also work as part of a team to expand industry partnerships and develop, manage and coordinate experiential learning opportunities for our students.

Required Qualifications

M.S. in Food Science or related discipline; Experience working in a laboratory setting; Experience working within or collaborating with the food industry; Excellent presentation skills; Excellent communication skills; Experience working in a team setting

Preferred Qualifications

Direct experience teaching food science or food science related laboratory courses; Experience mentoring undergraduate students in skills in a research laboratory setting; Experience supervising others in a professional setting

Exempt: Not eligible for overtime
