Location: On-campus (River Forest, IL)

Position Summary:

Dominican University seeks an Assistant Professor of Spanish Literature in River Forest, IL. Tenure-track position. Responsible for teaching at the undergraduate level in the following areas: Latinx, Afro-Latinx, Chicanx, Indigenous, Immigration or Borderland Studies in Spanish, Contemporary Latin/Mexican American or US Latine Literature and Culture.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Teaching 21 credit workload hours per academic year of Spanish language and literature/culture courses
  • Participate in university life

Required Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in Spanish Literature and Culture, Latin American Literature, or a related field from an AACSB-accredited institution. In the alternative, Dominican University will consider applicants who are Ph.D. candidates and have completed all but the dissertation (ABD) from an AACSB-accredited institution if the Ph.D. degree is conferred by the time the appointment begins.
  • Prior experience teaching undergraduates.
  • Experience working with diverse populations of students and a commitment to liberal arts education.
  • Specializations and teaching interests in Latinx, Afro-Latinx, Chicanx, Indigenous, Immigration, or Borderland Studies in Spanish, Contemporary Latin/Mexican American or US Latine Literature and Culture.

Salary and FLSA Status

  • FLSA Status: Exempt, full-time
  • SALARY: $65,000 – $70,000 annually
