Summary

The School of Inclusive Teacher Education at Bowling Green State University invites applications for a qualified rank (non-tenure eligible) Assistant Teaching Professor in PK-8 Mathematics Education with a start date of August 2025. This is a nine-month, renewable appointment.

The School of Inclusive Teacher Education is located in the College of Education and Human Development. The School of Inclusive Teacher Education is committed to building and sustaining a dynamic, collaborative community of highly skilled teachers for all levels of education, thereby increasing graduates’ options and those of their students for lives as independent, productive, and contributing citizens. The School promotes and supports rigorous scholarship, innovative teaching and learning, and civic and professional engagement that places high value on the diversity of individuals and communities in a global society. The School serves approximately 1,500 undergraduate students and nearly 500 graduate students in seven initial licensure programs and four graduate programs, with numerous endorsements and certificates. These programs are guided by more than fifty full-time faculty and staff.

The College of Education and Human Development, BGSU’s founding college, is home to a dynamic group of graduate and undergraduate programs, composed of three academic units: the School of Applied Human Development; the School of Counseling, Higher Education, Leadership, and Foundations; and the School of Inclusive Teacher Education. Approximately 150 full-time faculty and staff serve over 3,000 undergraduate students and over 1,000 graduate students. Essential Functions

  1. Teach PK-8 mathematics education and/or integrated STEM education courses (face-to-face, blended, online), including field experiences and seminars, in programs leading to licensure in grades PreK-8 and/or in graduate programs, depending on school needs.
  2. Participate in student advising and program development.
  3. Contribute to the school, college, university, and profession through service activities.

Minimum Qualifications

  1. Master’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, Curriculum and Instruction, Mathematics Education, or closely related field with a focus on mathematics education or STEM education. Degree must be conferred prior to appointment in August 2025.
  2. Experience integrating inclusivity within the broader context of mathematics education.
  3. A minimum of three years professional experience working with elementary and/or middle school students (e.g., classroom teacher, special education teacher, or other related service provider in educational settings).
  4. Demonstrated commitment to culturally relevant pedagogy through curriculum development, teaching, or service).

Preferred Qualifications

  1. Ph.D. in one of the fields identified above.
  2. Experience collaborating between special education and general education.
  3. Experience teaching at the college level in one or multiple modalities (e.g., face-to-face, blended, online).
