The AVP of Institutional Effectiveness is a key leader responsible for fostering a culture of data-informed decision-making and continuous improvement across The College. This role leads the integration and alignment of institutional planning, assessment, resource capacity, and analytics to promote operational excellence and advance the College’s mission and strategic goals.

In close partnership with the Executive Leadership Team, Academics leadership, and key college stakeholders, this leader plays a pivotal role in the development, coordination, and continuous improvement of assessment strategies for non-instructional areas (e.g., student experience, marketing, information technology, finance, etc.). This role supports institutional effectiveness by providing evidence-based insights, foresight-informed planning tools, and decision support systems that enhance student experiences and advance equitable outcomes across the College.

The AVP plays a critical role in fostering a culture of inquiry, data-informed decision-making, and continuous improvement. In close collaboration with student experience, finance, operations, and other cross-functional teams, the AVP builds capacity in assessment practices and the effective use of data. The AVP of Institutional Effectiveness and Impact works in partnership with the Vice Provost to ensure adherence to Middle States Standards for Accreditation and external reporting to entities such as IPEDs and NC-SARA.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Strategic Alignment and Institutional Planning

  • Lead the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of institution-wide planning processes that align strategic priorities with resource capacity and operational execution.
  • Collaborate with ELT and Strategy Team to develop, implement, and monitor progress toward strategic goals.
  • Create and maintain decision support tools, dashboards, and visualizations that clearly communicate the impact of institutional initiatives and inform planning.
  • Support integrated planning efforts that span academic, administrative, and operational units.

Data-Informed Decision Making

  • Champion the use of data and evidence in decision-making across the institution.
  • Develop and oversee systems for institutional analytics, dashboards, and performance monitoring.
  • Ensure that data and insights are accessible, timely, and actionable for leadership and stakeholders.

Accreditation, Assessment, and Compliance

  • Collaboratively works with the Vice Provost/The College’s Middle States Accreditation Liaison Officer, ensuring alignment and compliance with accreditation standards, recommendations, and best practices for institutional effectiveness.
  • Co-lead efforts related to accreditation preparation, reporting, and continuous adherence to standards to maintain and enhance institutional accreditation status.
  • Facilitate institution-wide cycles of review, evaluation, and improvement to drive effectiveness and innovation.
  • Provide thought leadership and training to build internal capacity for evidence-based evaluation.

Institutional Reporting

  • Coordinate data collection and reporting for external accountability, including accreditation bodies, government agencies, and institutional stakeholders (i.e., IPEDS, MSCHE, NC SARA, and PA DoE).
  • Ensure compliance with institutional effectiveness standards and reporting requirements.

Collaboration and Cross-Functional Integration

  • Design and deliver professional development for employees on co-curricular and operational assessment design, outcomes measurement, and data-informed decision-making.
  • Partner with the Project Management Office and other college leaders to align enterprise initiatives with institutional strategy and capacity.
  • Support the College’s initiative prioritization process, ensuring resource alignment and execution coherence.
  • Promote a culture of inquiry by coaching and/or partnering with departments to use data to reflect, learn, and improve.
  • A master’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., Higher Education Administration, Educational Leadership, Business Administration, Data Analytics, Public Administration, or Organizational Development), or equivalent professional experience, is required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible experience in assessment, institutional research, planning, effectiveness, or related areas.
  • Demonstrated leadership in assessment design, data-informed decision-making, and continuous improvement processes.
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage complex projects.
  • Knowledge of regional accreditation requirements and standards.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and facilitation skills.
  • Experience with analytics tools, dashboards, and data visualization.
  • Knowledge of strategic planning, budgeting, and resource allocation processes in a higher education environment.
  • Familiarity with accreditation standards and compliance, particularly Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE) and institutional effectiveness.
  • Proven ability to provide effective professional development and foster cross-campus collaboration
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with executive leadership, faculty, staff, and external stakeholders.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to evolving projects and initiatives within the College.

The target hiring range is $106,000.00 – $ 130,000.00.

***The salary of the candidate selected for this role will be based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training.
