Job description

The Associate Dean of Management and Technology is a dynamic leadership position crucial to supporting the Dean of Management overseeing the Management Division. It is integral to ensuring program excellence and growth. This 12-month position blends strategic oversight with academic and teaching responsibilities, ensuring curriculum relevance, faculty development, program accreditation, and student success. The position oversees the undergraduate Computer Information Systems (CIS) and Cybersecurity programs and includes teaching related undergraduate and graduate technology courses, mentoring students, and fostering industry partnerships. Additionally, the Associate Dean supports the Program Directors, helping develop new management and technology programs and managing operations and program quality.

Essential Duties Summary
Leadership & Program Oversight:

  • Collaborate with the Dean of Management on strategic initiatives, resource allocation, and division-wide planning to support the growth of Management and Technology programs.
  • Assist the Dean with day-to-day operations of the Management Division, ensuring smooth workflow and addressing operational challenges.
  • Facilitate effective communication between the Dean, Program Directors, and Faculty to ensure goal alignment and smooth program execution.
  • Offer direct support to the Program Directors in managing program operations, course scheduling, faculty administration, and enhancing student experiences in hybrid, online, and executive residency formats.
  • Collaborate with the Program Directors to ensure academic quality, innovation, and consistency across graduate Management and Technology programs.

Teaching & Academic Excellence:

  • Oversee curriculum development, program evaluation, and accreditation processes for the undergraduate CIS and Cybersecurity programs.
  • Teach undergraduate and graduate-level courses in CIS and Cybersecurity.
  • Mentor and advise technology students about course selection, research, internships, and career development, fostering academic and professional growth.

Accreditation & Program Assessment:

  • Oversee accreditation and ongoing assessment of CIS, Cybersecurity, and related technology programs, ensuring compliance with institutional and accreditation standards.
  • Use data-driven insights from student and industry feedback to guide continuous program improvement.
  • Ensure the high-quality delivery of technology-focused capstone courses, internships, and experiential learning components.
  • Develop a technology program advisory board that supports curriculum innovation.

Student & Community Engagement:

  • Promote a student-centered culture focused on academic advising, retention initiatives, and student success.
  • Serve as a key resource for technology students and faculty, addressing program-related issues and student needs and fostering a supportive learning environment.
  • Build technology partnerships to enhance internships, experiential learning, and career opportunities for students.
  • Strengthen alumni relations opportunities focusing on management and technology program enhancements.

Required Qualifications
Education:
Ph.D. or terminal degree in CIS, IT, Cybersecurity, or a related Technology field.
Experience:

  • Proven higher education leadership in an academic administrative role, such as Department Chair or Program Director.
  • Proven experience supporting program operations and Directors, particularly in undergraduate, graduate-level and executive residency programs.
  • Minimum of 5 years of successful teaching experience in technology-related disciplines across hybrid, online, and in-person teaching modalities.
  • Expertise in CIS, Cybersecurity, Technology, and Management program practices, with experience in program development and accreditation.

Skills:

  • Strong leadership, communication, negotiation, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to collaborate across disciplines and work with diverse groups of faculty, staff, and students.
  • Ability to problem solve and execute plans quickly.

Preferred Qualifications
Additional Criteria:

  • Strong record of research and publications in a technology discipline.
  • Grant writing capabilities and administration.
  • Relevant industry experience and certifications.
