Position DescriptionThe Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry in the College of Arts and Sciences at Texas Tech University is seeking applications for a 9-month tenure-track Associate Professor position in Metabolomics. This position will have a dual appointment with the newly established Human Molecular Aging Center (HMAC) and the Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry, which is one of the leading academic units at Texas Tech in research funding, publications, graduate education, and contributes to the universitys mission through teaching, research and service, some variation by academic unit.

Position Description
The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry in the College of Arts and Sciences at Texas Tech University is seeking applications for a 9-month tenure-track Associate Professor position in Metabolomics. This position will have a dual appointment with the newly established Human Molecular Aging Center (HMAC) and the Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry, which is one of the leading academic units at Texas Tech in research funding, publications, graduate education, and contributes to the university’s mission through teaching, research and service, some variation by academic unit.

Major/Essential Functions
In line with TTU’s strategic priorities to engage and empower a diverse student body, enable innovative research and creative activities, and transform lives and communities through outreach and engaged scholarship, applicants should have experience working with diverse student populations at the undergraduate and/or graduate levels within individual or across the areas of teaching, research/creative activity, and service.

The successful candidate will be expected to develop an independent, well-funded research program and demonstrate a strong commitment to excellence in teaching both undergraduate and graduate students. Applicants must have a Ph.D. in chemistry or a related field and postdoctoral experience. The ability to teach analytical and biochemistry courses is essential. In addition to teaching and research, service duties will include program development, participation in extra-curricular activities, and service to the Center, department, college, university, and the broader community.

Required Qualifications

  • Applicants must have a Ph.D. in chemistry or a related field and postdoctoral experience
  • At least 3 years of experience teaching analytical and biochemistry courses is required.
  • Qualified candidates should have an established record of publications and external funding in the field of metabolomics and/or related areas commensurate with the rank of associate professor.

In addition to the required qualifications, individuals with the following preferred qualifications are strongly encouraged to apply:

  • Applicants who have strong records of scholarship supported by extramural funding and a very strong peer reviewed publication record are particularly encouraged to apply.
  • Visibility: The candidate should have a strong professional network evidenced by their reputation in the field.
  • Research: The candidate should have a proven record of research scholarship.
  • Teaching: The candidate should have demonstrated strong commitment to teaching scholarship and practice.
  • Service: The candidate should have demonstrated a commitment to service and engagement at institutional and professional levels.
  • Mentoring: The candidate should have demonstrated a strong record of mentoring of students, post-docs, or junior faculty and staff.
