Position Summary
Under the direction of the Vice President of Administrative Services (VPA), the Associate Vice President (AVP) of Administrative Services provides leadership, management, and operational oversight for key administrative services that support the College’s mission, vision, and strategic goals. The AVP ensures the effective delivery of services related to facilities management, space utilization, enterprise services, environmental sustainability, budget management, and campus operations.
The AVP serves as a key collaborator across divisions to align campus infrastructure and operational services with the evolving needs of academic programs, student services, and administrative units. This position supervises the Director of Administrative Services and provides leadership for operational assessment, planning, budgeting, and continuous improvement in all areas under their purview.
Typical Duties
Facilities, Space Management, and Campus Operations
- Provide leadership and oversight for the Director of Administrative Services in managing campus operations, including facilities maintenance, custodial services, mailroom, receiving, printing services, and telecommunications infrastructure.
- Lead the development and management of space utilization strategies in collaboration with college leadership to optimize campus facilities in support of instruction, student services, and administrative functions.
- Collaborate with district and college leadership on capital projects, infrastructure enhancements, and facilities master planning efforts.
Enterprise Services Oversight
- Oversee the operational management of campus enterprise services, including bookstore operations, dining services, vending, and other auxiliary services to ensure quality service delivery and fiscal accountability.
Environmental Sustainability, Risk Management, and Compliance
- Provide operational leadership for the campus sustainability program, supporting the implementation of environmental and energy management initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with environmental regulations, ADA requirements (related to facilities and physical access), and district risk management protocols in collaboration with the Director of Administrative Services.
- Serve as the college lead on operational execution of risk management, safety, and emergency preparedness initiatives in coordination with district policies and the VPA.
Budget Management and Support
- Oversee and manage budgets for all operational areas under the AVP’s purview, ensuring fiscal accountability and alignment with institutional priorities.
- Provide analysis and recommendations to the VPA on resource allocation, cost efficiencies, and revenue opportunities.
- Support the VPA in the development and monitoring of the college-wide budget, collaborating with budget units and the college budget committee to ensure compliance with district policies and planning priorities.
- Assist in tracking expenditures, maintaining appropriate reserves, and preparing data to support budget decisions and communications.
Personnel Management and Assessment
- Supervise and provide leadership to the Director of Administrative Services and other assigned staff within Administrative Services.
- Provide input to the VPA on staffing needs, organizational structure, and operational effectiveness for Administrative Services.
- Assist and support the Vice President of Administrative Services (VPA) in administering college-wide classified personnel services, including staffing processes, evaluations, and other personnel matters as needed.
- Support the development and monitoring of operational budgets within assigned areas in collaboration with the Director.
Other Duties
Perform other duties as assigned by the Vice President of Administrative Services.

Minimum Qualifications
- A master’s degree in business, accounting, finance, management, economics, engineering, plant operations, or a related field and three years of administrative experience in a related area; OR, a bachelor’s degree in business, accounting, finance, management, economics, engineering, plant operations, or a related field and 5 years of progressively responsible management experience in the areas of responsibility related to this position.
