The Associate VP of Marketing will report to the VP of Advancement.
This position requires regular business hours, usually three days onsite and two days remote. In addition, applicants should expect to spend additional time at events in the evenings or on the weekends.
Desired start date: October 1, 2025; can be flexible
Summary:
The AVP of Marketing at Oglethorpe University is our chief “brand builder,” responsible for leading our marketing and communications team to develop and implement Oglethorpe’s overall marketing strategy to increase brand awareness. This strategy will include a clear, consistent, and compelling message about Oglethorpe University across multiple platforms including social media, campus signage, presidential engagement, and university messaging. The work is expected to generate increased prospective student interest, increased internship and applied learning opportunities for students, increased fundraising, and increased community partnerships. The successful applicant will be a self-starter with an entrepreneurial spirit, demonstrated effectiveness at collaborating with staff across multiple offices, and an effective communicator with multiple constituencies.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develops and executes comprehensive marketing plans and strategies that align with university values, mission, and strategic goals.
- Works effectively as the leader of a team, providing guidance and direction to achieve marketing objectives.
- Creates and oversees the marketing budget, ensuring efficient allocation of resources.
- Leads the planning, execution, and analysis of marketing campaigns across various platforms.
- Conducts (or oversees the conduct) research and analysis of market trends, competitor activities, and customer behavior to identify opportunities and refine marketing strategies.
- Develops and maintains a positive brand image, ensuring consistency across all marketing materials and activities.
- Establishes and monitors key performance indicators (KPIs) to track the effectiveness of marketing campaigns and strategies.
- Works closely with other departments, such as Enrollment Management, Communications, Advancement, and the Office of the President to ensure alignment and maximum impact of marketing efforts.
- Keeps abreast of the latest marketing trends, technologies, and best practices.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree
- Demonstrated effectiveness in developing and implementing a marketing plan with a clear, consistent, and compelling message.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders
- Demonstrated written, oral, and digital communication skills
- Demonstrated facility with relevant software
