The Department of Applied Psychology at Simmons College of Kentucky invites applications to fill the faculty position of Assistant Professor with a start date of August 2023. The successful candidate will teach a variety of core and major courses within the Applied Psychology degree program. Additional expectations include academic serving on academic and college-wide committees, and strong commitment to undergraduate education.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Teach a full-time course load equivalent to 12 hours each semester
  • Teach on-ground, online, and evening classes as needed
  • Create a classroom environment where students are engaged and feel comfortable participating and learning at high levels
  • Adapt instructional content and delivery methods for different levels and types of learners
  • Assists in planning, developing, organizing, and implementing programs and curricula (including assessments) for the Applied Psychology program
  • Maintain office hours for student conferences and tutoring
  • Advise students in the Applied Psychology major
  • Continue professional development in accordance with college expectations
  • Respond timely to communication from students and faculty
  • Attend and participate in committee, department, and college-wide meetings/events
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Department Chairperson and/or AVP of Academic Affairs

Required Qualifications

1. Master’s degree in Psychology or closely related discipline from an accredited institution with at least 18 graduate credits in related field

2. Three years’ experience teaching in higher education

1. Ph.D. in Psychology or closely related discipline

2. Ability to teach a broad spectrum of courses across the Applied Psychology curriculum.
