Job Description Summary / TWC Summary
This non-tenured faculty position in the Department of Health Sciences will teach professional clinical laboratory science courses and assist in managing clinical rotation sites. Engages in scholarly research. Serves on departmental and college committees. Participates in professional activities, including internal and external conferences and seminars. Other duties within the range of skills normally associated with a faculty position of this classification in an evolving teaching and learning environment within an integrated learner-centered academic program.Essential Duties Summary
- Teaches didactic and experiential programs in the classroom, laboratory, or online.
- Engages in active clinical scholarly activities.
- Provides services to College, University, and Community.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
% FTE: 1.0
Hiring Range: $74,942.19 – $97,425.00
Education
Ph.D required. Master’s degree in a laboratory or health-related field.Required Licensing/Certification
- Valid Texas Driver’s License preferred
- The candidate must have generalist certification [MT or MLS] as a Medical Laboratory Scientist/Medical Technologist
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of:
- Multiple disciplines in clinical laboratory science
- Microsoft Office Professional or similar applications.
Skill in:
- Problem-solving and decision-making.
- Strong time management.
- Interpersonal communication.
- Verbal and written communication.
Ability to:
- Prepare detailed reports.
- Lead the development or modification of work procedures in the discipline or function for virtually any situation.
- Work independently.
- Strong commitment to teaching and scholarship.
- Work with students from diverse cultural and ethnic backgrounds.
Work Experience
- Three years of recent clinical laboratory work experience (within the last 7 years).
- Prior experience teaching at the undergraduate level in didactic and laboratory courses and online (2-3 years desirable).
- Prior scholarly activity in an area of interest is desirable.
Working/Environmental Conditions
- Prolonged standing and/or walking.
- Handling lightweight objects.
- Using or carrying equipment.
