The Dean of Students provides strategic direction, leadership, and oversight for a wide range of student-centered services, programs, and initiatives. The Dean of Students promotes a student-first philosophy while ensuring the university environment is inclusive, equitable, safe, and conducive to academic and personal success.
Responsibilities
- Provide visionary leadership and strategic oversight for Student Affairs operations, including but not limited to: Student Conduct, Counseling Services, Student Life, Campus Safety, Wellness, Housing and Residence Life, and Disability Services.
- Serve as a visible, approachable, and engaged advocate for students, fostering a campus culture of respect, inclusion, accountability, and engagement.
- Lead the development and implementation of policies, programs, and services that support student success, retention, and well-being.
- Serve as the chief student conduct officer, overseeing the administration of the university’s student code of conduct and ensuring due process in disciplinary proceedings.
- Respond to student crises and emergencies in collaboration with campus safety, counseling services, health services, and local agencies; lead the university’s behavioral intervention team.
- Advise and collaborate with university leadership on student trends, challenges, and opportunities for improvement.
- Champion diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts and ensure compliance with federal and state regulations related to Title IX, ADA, and other student-related laws.
- Develop and manage departmental budgets, ensuring strategic allocation of resources to support student initiatives.
Education
- Master’s degree in Higher Education Administration, Student Affairs, Counseling, or a related field.
- Minimum of 8-10 years of progressively responsible experience in student affairs or higher education administration..
- Must be able to lift 10 pounds.
