SUMMARY

Minimum Salary $49,748.69

Salary offer commensurate with education and related work experienced.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
Requires flexible work schedule to meet program needs, which may include working days, evenings and/or weekends.

May require travel to our main campus in Alvin and/or to various offsite locations, including local high schools in Alvin, Danbury, Manvel and Pearland to meet with faculty.

Requires the provision of official transcripts and/or certifications within (30) days of hire.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITES

SUMMARY
Develop programs for Academic Support and Developmental Education with focus on student success initiatives for under-prepared student population.

  • Lead support of faculty academic curricular options, with assistance of faculty.
  • Organize and provide training for faculty and staff instructing various curricular options.
  • Lead piloting of new academic support and developmental education options and provide instruction.
  • Assist in developing, implementing, and evaluating results of the new initiatives.
  • Assist in designing tutorial options and train tutors.
  • Assist academic coaches in identifying at-risk students.
  • Coordinate meetings with tutors to review lessons.
  • Create reports on progress of developmental work.
  • Present work in stages at program development meetings with team.
  • May be required to travel to any ACC course locations.
  • Other duties as assigned.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
The incumbent typically works in an office environment and uses a computer, telephone and other office equipment as needed to perform duties. The noise level in the work environment is typical of that of an office. Incumbent may encounter frequent interruptions throughout the work day.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The employee is regularly required to sit, talk, or hear; frequently required to use repetitive hand motion, handle or feel, and to stand, walk, reach, bend or lift up to twenty (20) pounds.

QUALIFICATIONS

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
* Bachelor’s degree in Developmental Education, English or related field required.
* At least 12 English credit hours.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
* Be proficient in use of technology to support instruction.
* Be experienced in utilization of instructional department specific technology.
* Have strong knowledge of current, successful pedagogies in Developmental Education.
* Be able to convey excellent communication and leadership abilities.
* The ability to develop excellent rapport with students and colleagues.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • English teaching experience
  • Emphasis on Curriculum Design
  • Bilingual – English/Spanish
