Job description
The primary goal of the Director of Marketing is to support the Marketing & Communications department in the practice of promoting the Walsh brand, name and mission both locally and beyond. The Director of Marketing, under the supervision of the Vice President for Marketing & Communications, is responsible for planning, developing, implementing, and measuring the college’s marketing strategies both external and internal to align with the strategic goals of the institution and coordinate cross enterprise at both strategic and tactical levels within the function of the organization.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
- Develops and executes the University’s integrated marketing initiatives.
- Develops and executes comprehensive marketing plans that will enhance the college’s image and position.
- Responsible for planning, evaluating, and reporting on goals and long-range marketing strategies.
- Assures the college’s brand is communicated to all constituencies, both internal and external, all of which are tied directly to the college’s mission, vision, and strategic plan.
- Works with departments/programs on implementing communication/marketing plans that align with University priorities
- Negotiates and maintains vendor/service contracts, coordinating the Request for Quotes (RFQs) process as needed.
- Supports online registrations for various events across campus by developing online RSVP forms and portals to allow for online payment and tracking guests
- Works with other departments on event planning and execution
- Develops and oversees the University’s social media network for strategic initiatives that support marketing efforts
- Photography or videography at designated campus events as needed

Required Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
Must understand and support the Mission, Vision and Code of Ethical Conduct of Walsh University, as a Catholic higher education university as expressed in Ex Corde Ecclesiae, and possess the following:
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, or a related field.
- 5-7 years of demonstrated successful experience directing marketing and branding efforts including emerging and traditional media.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with strong multi-tasking skills and a keen attention to detail.
- Robust knowledge of social media, digital content systems management, marketing, advertising, and media buying.
- Strong communication, leadership, organizational, and analytical skills and demonstrate the ability to solve problems.
- Proven ability to deal effectively, cooperatively, and tactfully to provide excellent customer service to internal and external stakeholders.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in marketing or related field
Work Experience: 5-7 years industry experience (experience in higher education preferred)
Skills and abilities:
- Professional demeanor and ability to interact with charity towards students, staff and faculty. Positive attitude a must.
