The College of Business at Auburn University at Montgomery (AUM) invites applications for the position of Director of the School of Accountancy. Full Professor is preferred although advanced Associate Professors will be considered. The Director position is a full-time, 12-month, tenure-track position with a usual course load of three courses per academic year. The School of Accountancy is separately accredited by AACSB. The Director represents the School to stakeholders such as public practice firms, governmental organizations, business entities, groups like the Alabama Society of CPAs, and AUM alumni, as well as the larger community. The appointment begins August 15, 2026.
Candidates must have a doctorate from an AACSB accredited institution or its equivalent; must be research active (Scholarly academic per AACSB standards); and must have an academic record and teaching ability sufficient to be appointed at a full or associate professor level.
Experience in the AACSB accreditation process, academic administrative experience, a CPA designation (or an equivalent), and interest in data analytics or AI are all preferred.

The School of Accountancy Director’s key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Serve as the primary representative of the School to external stakeholders (e.g., CPA firms, government, alumni, Alabama Society of CPAs)
- Communicate college and university policies and advocate for the School’s needs
- Lead the AACSB accreditation process for the School
- Oversee the Master of Accountancy (MAcc) program and collaborate with the program advisor
- Support excellence in teaching, research, and professional development
- Guide strategic planning, course scheduling, budgeting, resource management, and team building
- Work with faculty to maintain and enhance curriculum and academic standards
- Promote interdisciplinary collaboration across campus
- Lead student recruitment and retention efforts and ensure effective advising for majors
Minimum Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- Doctorate from an AACSB-accredited institution (or equivalent)
- Scholarly Academic (SA) status under AACSB guidelines
- Strong teaching and research record sufficient for appointment at the Associate or Full Professor level (Full Professor preferred; advanced Associate Professors will be considered)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with the AACSB accreditation process
- Academic administrative experience
- CPA license (or equivalent)
- Experience in data analytics and AI in accounting
