The University of Hawai`i at Hilo (UH Hilo) invites applications and nominations for the Director of University Relations.
The Director of University Relations at UH Hilo is a key executive leadership role responsible for overseeing the university’s integrated marketing and communications strategy, including government and community relations, alumni engagement, and major institutional events. The Director also serves as the university’s primary spokesperson and advisor on legislative and policy matters and leads a team responsible for advancing UH Hilo’s strategic priorities through marketing, branding, and public relations efforts.
This position leads UH Hilo’s integrated marketing, communications, government relations, and community engagement efforts. Develops and executes strategies that align with institutional goals, branding, and messaging, serving as the university’s primary spokesperson. Directs internal and external communications, crisis management, digital platforms, creative services, and event planning. Builds relationships with government officials, community partners, alumni, and donors to advance UH Hilo’s mission, emphasizing student success, Indigenous excellence, and community impact. Advises leadership on legislative strategies and public policy, supports fundraising and alumni engagement, and ensures all initiatives reflect UH Hilo’s role as an Indigenous-serving institution.
