Job Summary
Western Nebraska Community College is seeking a full-time English Instructor to join our faculty at the Scottsbluff campus. This position offers the opportunity to teach a broad range of English courses in a supportive, student-focused environment. We are looking for an instructor who is enthusiastic about teaching, committed to academic excellence, and skilled in supporting learners at various levels of college readiness.

Salary is determined in accordance with the Negotiated Agreement and is based on the candidate’s educational background and relevant teaching experience. The salary listed reflects the entry point on the faculty salary schedule; final placement may vary depending on qualifications.
Key Responsibilities
Job duties may include:
- Teaching both developmental and transferable English courses.
- Developing and revising curriculum to support instructional goals.
- Documenting and assessing student learning outcomes.
- Participating in program review, assessment efforts, and faculty committees.
- Supporting the learning needs of students with varied academic backgrounds, including those in foundational education.
- Engaging in professional development activities to maintain instructional effectiveness
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in English, Composition/Rhetoric, or a closely related field
- A minimum of 18 graduate credit hours in English
- Demonstrated ability to effectively meet the instructional needs of a broad student population
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior teaching experience at the community college level.
- Familiarity with teaching strategies that support a range of learners, including traditional, non-traditional, and at-risk students.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
Work is performed in a typical classroom and office environment. The position requires extended periods of sitting or standing, computer use, and the ability to communicate effectively in both individual and group settings.
