Teaches a variety of Culinary Arts or Baking and Pastry Arts courses. Advises students; serves on college governance committees and participates in college programs and activities.
  1. Teaches a variety of Culinary Arts or Baking and Pastry Arts related courses conducted onsite or at offsite venues based on college and program needs.
  2. Develops new courses/curriculum/programs as appropriate to support student learning and attainment of learning outcomes and which meet local workforce needs.
  3. Integrates technology into coursework, such as a learning management system.
  4. Meets with and assists students, singly or in groups, regarding comprehension of course content.
  5. Provides academic advising and supports college and/or program orientation initiatives.
  6. Participates in various program and/or college student support and/or retention initiatives.
  7. Participates in assessment activities at the program and/or college level which support all applicable accreditation and/or regulatory compliance efforts.
  8. Serves on college governance committees and other committees, task forces, sub-committees and in other activities and performs other college services as requested.
Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associate’s degree or certification in Culinary Arts or closely related field and a Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline.
  • At least two years of teaching or training experience;
  • Demonstrated excellent teaching skills in Culinary Arts, including using interactive and varied pedagogical strategies;
  • Commitment to and understanding of the community college mission;
  • Ability to work effectively and communicate with a diverse faculty, staff and student body.

NOTE: A teaching demonstration will be a required part of the interview process.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree; American Culinary Federation certified or eligible for certification;
  • Teaching experience in higher education;
  • Experience in the management of professional kitchens or bakery facilities;
  • Ability to integrate information technology and emerging culinary technology into instruction;
  • ServSafe food handler certification and/or proctor certification.
Full-time, Tenure-Track MCCC/MTA position

Salary: $57,013.00 – $65,361.00. Actual salary will be commensurate with education and experience in accordance with MCCC/MTA Collective Bargaining Agreement. Full State benefits.
