The Art Department invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track faculty in Art for the 2026-2027 academic year.
The Community College of Philadelphia seeks a full-time, tenure-track Art Instructor or Assistant Professor, starting in Fall 2026. We are seeking a dynamic educator passionate about shaping the future of our department and the College. In this role, you will teach courses in Painting and Drawing, engaging students with diverse interests in art and design while supporting their development of essential skills for academic and professional success.
As an integral part of our faculty, you will facilitate student learning through effective instruction, assessment, and hands-on activities. Your commitment to promoting student success will extend beyond the classroom, as you actively participate in the intellectual life of the department and the College. You will maintain a strong presence by meeting scheduled classes and office hours, ensuring open communication with students and colleagues.

Required Qualification:
- MFA, equivalent terminal degree, or equivalent professional experience required.
- Active exhibition record or professional practice. Established record of professional accomplishments required.
- A minimum of two (2) years’ experience teaching studio courses at the college level with experience in curriculum development required.
- In-depth knowledge of and experience teaching perceptually based drawing and painting courses at introductory and advanced levels required.
- Ability to teach foundational concepts such as site measuring, perspective, and drawing from the figure utilizing live models required. Experience should also include basic color mixing as it applies to oil painting.
- Ability to work with and demonstrate proper use of drawing and painting materials and techniques, including linear and tonal drawing approaches and oil painting, required.
- Experience teaching students from diverse backgrounds, first generation college students, and international students.
- Evidence of commitment to mentoring and supporting students outside the classroom environment.
- Demonstrate the ability to collaborate with faculty from various creative disciplines.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Demonstrated experience teaching diverse student populations.
- Demonstrated experience teaching within a community college.
- Bilingual or other language proficiency.
