ABOUT THIS POSITION

Summary: The Applied Anthropology and Geography program is seeking a four-field trained, full-time instructor of anthropology to teach our current lower division offerings in introductory anthropology, introductory archaeology, and cultural anthropology. Other courses, including in the upper division, may be assigned according to enrollment and departmental need.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.

Teach the following lower division courses: ANTH 202, Introduction to Anthropology; ANTH 220, Principles of Archaeology; and ANTH 201, Cultural Anthropology.

Courses in other areas of specialization/expertise will be considered.

This is a full-time teaching position. There are no required research, advising, or service commitments.

The standard teaching load is 12 credit hours per semester; some assigned courses may be taught via distance delivery or hybrid modalities. The ability to teach in-person is preferred.

Minimum Qualifications Required:

  • Master of Arts in Anthropology from an accredited college or university.
  • Research Focus in the Americas
  • Demonstrated Teaching Experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in Anthropology from an accredited college or university.
  • Experience teaching as Instructor of Record. Experience with both live classroom and online formats.
  • North American research focus
  • Ability to teach an upper division course in Cultural Resource/Heritage Management
