Summary:
The School of Education at the University of Illinois Springfield invites applications for a Math Methods instructor beginning August 16, 2025. The instructor will teach Math Methods courses for licensure programs in the Teacher Education programs (elementary, middle grades, and/or secondary). A 4/4 course load is planned.

This is a full-time on-campus position and benefit-eligible non-tenured academic appointment. UIS faculty are expected to be available and engaged in the university community to perform professional responsibilities as assigned.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Teaching: TEP 212-Math for Elementary Teachers, TEP 436-Mathematical Methods for Middle and Secondary Teachers, TEP 424-
Methods for Elementary Mathematics, and other courses as needed based on licensure and expertise of candidate.

Service: Assist with Teacher Education program needs in terms of scheduling and licensure requirements.

Minimum Qualifications:
Master’s degree or higher in mathematics, education or in a closely related field plus 18 graduate credit hours in mathematics. Current or prior endorsement, certification, and/or licensure in the content area (preferred Illinois licensure, but will accept out of state licensure).

Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience teaching in the field/content area.

Ability to work with a highly diverse faculty and student body.

Ability to use data and assessments to inform instruction.

Experience with teaching online, using educational technology tools.

Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Current and active knowledge in the area of teaching mathematics to elementary or secondary teacher candidates.

Preferred Qualifications:
Community College or University teaching experience

Earned Doctorate degree

Demonstrated scholarship

Current professional teaching experience
