The Clinical Adjunct Nursing Faculty member plays a vital role in educating and mentoring undergraduate nursing students in clinical settings. This position is key in the direct supervision of students in hospitals, clinics, and community agencies, ensuring safe practice and integration of classroom knowledge into patient care. Clinical adjunct faculty are essential in modeling professional nursing practice and are committed to supporting student success in the BSN program.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide clinical instruction and supervision to undergraduate nursing students in assigned specialty areas (e.g., medical-surgical, pediatrics, mental health, maternal-child, or community health).
- Facilitate student learning by demonstrating clinical skills, guiding patient care, and promoting critical thinking.
- Evaluate and provide timely feedback on student performance in the clinical setting.
- Collaborate with course coordinators and full-time faculty to align clinical learning with program outcomes.
- Maintain compliance with university, program, and clinical site policies and standards.
- Serve as a professional role model, demonstrating excellence in nursing practice, ethics, and patient-centered care.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in nursing preferred.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required (candidates with a BSN must have a degree plan to obtain MSN, DNP, or PhD from an accredited institution)
- Unencumbered license as a registered nurse in Kansas
- Minimum of two years of clinical nursing experience
- Previous teaching or precepting experience preferred.
WORK SCHEDULE & COMPENSATION:
- Semester-based appointments; hours vary depending on clinical assignments.
- Compensation on a per-contact-hour or per-credit-hour basis, commensurate with experience and qualifications
COMPENSATION:
- Salary: $3,060- $15,000
- Salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
