Job Summary/Basic Functions

The Institute for Creative and Collaborative Arts’ School of Communication at Eastern Kentucky University invites applications for a lecturer in Broadcasting and Electronic Media beginning in the Fall Semester of 2026. Applicants should hold an MA or MFA in broadcasting, communication, journalism, or a related field at the time of appointment.

The EKU BA program in Broadcasting and Electronic Media offers curriculum tracks in Documentary Film, Film Techniques and Technology, and Multimedia Journalism. The successful candidate will teach introductory to upper-level courses in broadcasting and multimedia journalism, such as Media & Society, Broadcast Performance, Journalism Practicum, Information Gathering, and Video Production. Preference will be given to candidates who also have academic and professional qualifications also to teach courses in public relations.

The University places a high priority on being leaders in the responsible use of artificial intelligence and in building such capacity in our students. The successful candidate will demonstrate knowledge of artificial intelligence pertinent to the discipline and/or a willingness to pursue professional development to acquire such expertise.

Minimum Qualifications

Education: Minimum Qualifications:

  • MA or MFA in broadcasting, communication, journalism, or related field; degree must be in hand by the start of the Fall 2026 semester.
  • Fluency with technology-based teaching and communication platforms, such as Canvas.

Experience:

  • Professional broadcast production and journalism experience.
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
    • Ability to present information clearly, concisely, and accurately.
    • Ability to collaborate with peers and students
    • Ability to understand and adapt to current trends in professional communication
