Job Description
The Department of Physics and Astronomy at Butler University invites applications for Lecturer in Physics with an anticipated start date of August 2026. Candidates with a Ph.D. in Physics or Astrophysics are preferred, although candidates with a Master’s in one of these disciplines will receive consideration. Butler cannot provide visa sponsorship for this position.
We seek a colleague who demonstrates a strong commitment to excellence in undergraduate teaching and who can work both independently and collaboratively to build an inclusive learning environment for an increasingly diverse student population. Ideal candidates will be equipped with strategies for effective teaching and mentoring of undergraduate students with a variety of backgrounds, identities, and experiences.
Teaching duties may include introductory algebra-based and calculus-based Physics courses, physical science for non-science majors, and upper-level physics courses. The teaching load will be 12 credit hours per semester including laboratory sessions.
