SUMMARY:
East Texas A&M University, a student-ready Doctoral University classified as R2: High Research Activity by the Carnegie Classification, invites applications for a Professional Track Assistant Professor position in Clinical or School Psychology to begin Fall 2026.
The Department of Psychology and Special Education seeks a dedicated educator and clinician who demonstrates excellence in teaching and clinical supervision at the graduate level, and meaningful service to the department, university, and profession. The successful candidate will demonstrate a commitment to training master-level Clinical Psychology students and/or Specialist-level School Psychology students in evidence-based assessment and intervention practices.
The position will primarily serve the Master of Science in Clinical Psychology and Specialist in School Psychology programs but may contribute to other graduate courses in the Department of Psychology and Special Education.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Teaching
- Provide teaching excellence to graduate students in Clinical Psychology, School Psychology, and other programs
- Teach courses related to Clinical or School Psychology, including Psychopathology and Diagnosis, Abnormal Psychology, Personality Psychology, Assessment, and others at the graduate level
- Deliver instruction both online and on any of the university campuses; instructional duties may include teaching during the day or in the evening
- Contribute to the department’s graduate curriculum and develop graduate courses in area(s) of clinical expertise
- Demonstrate commitment to effective, comprehensive, and innovative pedagogy
- Prepare and regularly update syllabi and course materials
- Develop curriculum to meet evolving program needs
- Advise students at the graduate level
Clinical Supervision
- Provide clinical supervision for master-level and specialist-level student clinicians in practicum/internship settings
- Mentor graduate students in the application of evidence-based assessment and intervention techniques
- Maintain current knowledge of evidence-based assessment and intervention research
Service
- Participate in departmental, college, and university committees and governance
- Contribute to the professional community through activities such as conference participation and organizational service
- Work collaboratively with faculty and staff to implement departmental programs
- Engage in outreach or community engagement consistent with the mission of the university
- Maintain knowledge and stay abreast of best practices in teaching and technology applications in the classroom, including online teaching
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Education: Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology, School Psychology, or closely related field by Fall 2026.
- Experience / Knowledge / Skills: Evidence of effective teaching or teaching potential at the graduate level. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with a team of professionals. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Dedication to high standards of ethical practice in psychology.
- Ability to: Ability to multi-task, work well as part of a team, and give keen attention to accuracy and details.

N/A
PREFERRED EDUCATION / SKILLS/ EXPERIENCE:
- Licensed (or license eligible) as a psychologist in the state of Texas
- Commitment to training master-level clinical psychology students and/or specialist-level school psychology students in evidence-based assessment and intervention practices
- University teaching experience, including graduate-level instruction
- Online teaching experience
- Experience providing clinical supervision to graduate students
- Demonstrated ability to contribute to curriculum development in clinical or school psychology
- Experience working with varied student populations
SUPERVISION OF OTHERS:
Supervision of graduate assistants, practicum students and student interns.
