Position Overview:

The Department of Nursing invites applications for a full-time tenure-track nursing faculty position at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor beginning Fall 2026. The Department of Nursing currently offers a prelicensure BSN program, RN to BSN program, and an MSN in Nursing Leadership. The position includes teaching responsibilities in the classroom and clinical setting as well as a commitment to maintain practice, service, and scholarship responsibilities.

Essential Responsibilities:

1. Teach nursing didactic, clinical and lab courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels in areas of expertise. Workload expectations are 12 credit/contact hours each semester.

2. Create an environment that fosters student learning in all settings and teaching modalities.

3. Develop, conduct, and document appropriate assessment of student learning outcomes in courses and programs as appropriate.

4. Engage in and disseminated scholarship in nursing or related fields.

5. Advise nursing students.

6. Collaborate with department colleagues on strategic planning, program development, and curriculum review.

7. Participate in accreditation, governance, and regulatory review processes of the Department.

8. Serve on school, university, and external professional committees.

9. Participate in ongoing professional development to enhance teaching, research, and service.

  1. Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the dean.

Qualifications, Experience, Abilities and Skills Required:

Education/Certification:

· Minimum of master’s degree in nursing from an accredited college or university; doctoral degree preferred.

  • Current unencumbered license to practice as a registered nurse in the State of Michigan or ability to obtain Michigan Licensure.

Professional Experience:

  • Demonstrated expertise in nursing practice for the assigned courses.
  • Experience teaching nursing courses at the collegiate level required.
  • A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in bedside nursing practice required.
  • Recent experience (within the past 5 years) in an acute care clinical setting. This requirement can be met through active clinical teaching.
  • Demonstrated teaching experience and scholarly achievement for academic appointment.

· Must be committed to teaching excellence in the liberal arts environment.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Integrity, impeccable ethics, initiative, enthusiasm, and the ability to establish trust and credibility.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite

Physical Demands & Work Environment:

Involves working in an office environment infrequently exposed to extreme temperatures, noise, fumes, dust, etc.

1. Sitting/standing at desk and on computer regularly.

2. Ability to travel to locations throughout the campus regularly, regionally, and beyond on occasion.

3. Ability to operate standard office equipment/technology.

4. Ability to engage in active components of nursing practice in both clinical and simulated clinical environments.

5. Ability to lift and move manakins as needed.
