Southern Virginia University seeks applications for an Open Rank Professor/Instructor of Family and Human Development, to start work in the fall 2025 semester. Main responsibilities include teaching, developing curriculum, undergraduate advising, and university service. We are also open to applications for part-time teaching as an adjunct instructor.

The ideal candidate will have evidence of effective teaching in small classes. The position requires mentorship of students, course development, curriculum revision, and continued improvement of a Family and Human Development major. A PhD in FHD/Psychology is strongly preferred, though candidates with a Master’s degree in FHD/Psychology or a related field will also be considered.
Candidates should have graduate training and teaching experience in Family and Human Development. Teaching responsibilities will include FHD 210 Marriage and Family, FHD 310 Family Process, as well as introductory and upper-division FHD courses relating to the expertise of the candidate and needs of the program.
