Bethel University, in partnership with the national search firm, Scott Healy & Associates, invites applications and nominations for the position of Physician Assistant Faculty, Full Time Tenure-Track. This faculty position is a full-time, tenure track role within the Physician Assistant program and helps to oversee the clinical education component and is an expansion role as we launch the new Anderson Family College of Health Sciences. Areas of focus will include assisting in clinical rotation placement and the recruitment/retention of clinical sites, clinical site visits and evaluations, and ensuring compliance with accreditation standards. Includes supporting and teaching students throughout their didactic and clinical education. This individual will work closely with the Program Director and the Director of Clinical Education (DCE) and collaborate closely with faculty, staff, preceptors, and healthcare institutions.
The PA program at Bethel University is part of the Anderson Family College of Health Sciences, a new College is supported by a generous gift from the Rollie and Barb Anderson family. The Andersons have recently donated $20M to launch the College, in addition to previous donations that brought Bethel the Anderson Center, a five-story building where recent renovations have supported current health care programs, and with plentiful space that can be renovated for future programs and needs.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the program director in the delivery of the Master of Science in Physician Assistant (MSPA).
- Collaborate with the Director of Clinical Education (DCE), the clinical staff team, and healthcare institutions in securing and maintaining clinical rotations for student placements.
- Monitoring and evaluating both the quality of the student experiences at clinical sites as well as the preceptors.
- Ensure compliance with ARC-PA accreditation standards as it relates to clinical education.
- Review student performance data, including grades, assessments, and feedback from faculty and preceptors, to assess progress and collaborate in the remediation process if needed.
- Work with the DCE to develop and implement training programs for clinical preceptors to ensure they can effectively support student learning.
- Foster relationships with preceptors and provide ongoing support, recognition, and appreciation for their contributions to the program.
- Participate in didactic lecture or grading as designated by PD.
- Proctor clinical exams and educational activities throughout the clinical year and provide continuous student evaluation.
- Serve on committees within the program and the University, and serve as an advisor to PA students as assigned by the program director.
- Mentor PA students in the integration of faith and medicine as they develop into practitioners
- Travel may be required.
Qualifications:
- Must be a PA, MD, or DO, preferably with 3 years of clinical experience.
- Master’s degree or higher required.
- Experience in teaching (preferably in higher education), or experience as a clinical preceptor for healthcare students (PA, NP, or medical students), or experience in healthcare administration.
