GENERAL JOB SUMMARY:
Pierpont Community & Technical College seeks a visionary and dynamic leader to serve as its next President. This is an exceptional opportunity to lead an inclusive, and accessible multi-campus institution dedicated to student success and community engagement.
As the chief executive officer, the President provides strategic direction and leadership for the College, ensuring alignment with its mission, vision, and values. The President fosters strong relationships with the Board of Governors, faculty, staff, students, and the broader community, while championing innovation, equity, and growth.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide overall leadership for college operations, including academic programs, facilities, and multi-campus initiatives.
- Lead strategic planning, assessment, and data-driven decision-making to chart the institution’s future.
- Oversee budgeting and financial models that support growth and sustainability to provide effective resource allocation and fiscal accountability.
- Develop and implement comprehensive fundraising strategies for programmatic and capital needs.
- Build and maintain partnerships with businesses, industries, and educational entities across the state and region.
- Cultivate stakeholder and community relationships to strengthen institutional support.
- Represent the College with integrity and enthusiasm to internal and external audiences.
- Advocate for the College with legislative and regulatory bodies and navigate political environments effectively.
- Promote the College regionally and nationally through networking and outreach.
- Oversee development of innovative academic programs that promote student success and workforce readiness.
- Direct facilities planning and management to support institutional goals.
- Promote a cooperative work environment and encourage ongoing professional development for faculty and staff.
- Ensure adherence to institutional policies, federal and state laws, and ethical standards.
- Perform additional responsibilities as assigned to support the College’s mission and vision.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Doctorate or other terminal degree.
- At least 10 years of administrative and teaching experience at a community college or other degree-granting institution (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
- Proven experience in financial leadership and strategic planning.
- Proven experience in building partnerships and fundraising.
- Proven experience in navigating political and regulatory environments.
- Exceptional communication, leadership, and decision-making skills.
- Commitment to access, equity, and student success.
REQUIRED ATTRIBUTES:

- Ability to recognize and act upon emerging trends and opportunities.

- Experience working within Appalachian culture and understanding regional needs.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Work is generally performed in an office environment with frequent interruptions and irregularities in the work schedule. Ability to travel regionally and nationally, sometimes on short notice is required.
