Job description
Porterville, CA
Porterville College and the Kern Community College District invite applications and nominations for the position of President, Porterville College. Porterville is a place “to come stay awhile.” The location and size create a distinctive setting which allows the college to focus on meeting the needs of the small town and rural communities in the immediate area. Faculty, staff, and administrators work as a supportive team to ensure active involvement across the community, fostering lifelong relationships with students and their families.
For more than 95 years, Porterville College has offered quality academic and career-technical programs at its 80-acre campus. About 4900 students enroll at PC each year (1560 full time equivalent). Almost 1,000 certificates and associate degrees are awarded annually. The 262 employees include 151 full- and part-time faculty.
The City of Porterville, population 63,500, sits at the base of the Southern Sierra Nevada mountains. The costs of housing and other necessities are lower than the national average, and well below the average for California. Residents enjoy the natural beauty, quiet residential neighborhoods, downtown Porterville’s shops and restaurants, and the several annual events that draw large crowds. Porterville is the gateway for travelers to Sequoia National Forest, Giant Sequoia National Monument and Kings Canyon National Park. The Pacific shores and metropolitan Los Angeles are within three hours’ drive.
