The Boston College School of Social Work (BCSSW) is inviting applications for a senior faculty appointment at the rank of Professor or Associate Professor of clinical practice beginning September 1, 2026.

BCSSW trains students and professionals in social work to develop transformative, evidence-based interventions that enhance the lives of the most vulnerable, with an emphasis on cultivating leaders in social work practice and research.
Practice Expertise in Mental Health
We plan to hire a Professor or Associate Professor of Clinical Practice with clinical experience and expertise in Mental Health, working with adult individuals, couples, families, and groups. Outstanding candidates may be considered for appointment as Professor. The candidate should be proficient in conducting diagnostic assessments and implementing evidence-based mental health clinical interventions with youth, adults, or families, and possess strong communication and teaching skills. The candidate will collaborate closely with the chair of the Mental Health Field of Practice to enhance, strengthen, and innovate the Clinical mental health curriculum. Experience with syllabus and assignment development and revision, as well as the ability to collaborate and problem-solve with faculty colleagues, is essential.The position emphasizes excellent teaching skills and involves teaching six courses per year, as well as providing administrative support to the chair of the Mental Health Field of Practice.

Qualifications:
Qualified applicants must have an MSW degree and at least five to ten years of post-MSW clinical experience to teach the required clinical practice courses. Successful applicants will also have demonstrated a record of excellence in teaching and expertise in ognitive-behavioral therapy, as well as other trauma-informed therapeutic modalities.
