The Provost should support in positioning the university as a national and international hub for high quality education, promoting the development of skilled graduates and academic leaders who contribute to national and global advancement.

Established in 2006, (Presidential Decree # 255/2006), Nile University was officially inaugurated in January 2007 and became a non-governmental autonomously managed (Ahleya) university in 2014 (Presidential Decree # 123/2014). I. Job Description
Nile University (NU), a leading institution of higher education in Egypt, invites applications and nominations for the position of Provost, the University’s Chief Academic Officer. Appointed by the Board of Trustees, the Provost plays a pivotal role in shaping and executing the academic mission, vision, and strategy of the University. The Provost is responsible for providing academic leadership, ensuring excellence in teaching, learning, and overseeing the academic and student-related operations of the University. The Provost is a key member of the University Council and works closely with School Deans, Vice Provosts, and senior leadership to promote academic quality, innovation, and institutional growth.
II. Key Responsibilities
- Academic Leadership & Administration: Oversees all academic programs across NU’s schools and affiliated units, including teaching, curriculum development, and assessment. Provides leadership for academic support units such as student affairs, libraries, and institutional academic planning.
- Institutional Representation: Shares responsibility with the President in managing NU’s relationships with external academic institutions, professional associations, and relevant educational bodies nationally and internationally.
- Student-Centered Focus: Champions the best interests of students by fostering inclusive, supportive learning and living environments, aligning decision-making with student success, engagement, and well-being.
- Curriculum & Learning Oversight: Supervises the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of undergraduate and graduate curricula and instructional quality.
- Academic Affairs Management: Oversees all aspects of enrollment management, course scheduling, tuition and student fees policies, and ensures alignment with NU’s values and regulations.
- Faculty Affairs: Approves appointments, evaluations, and retention of full-time academic staff. Oversee promotion processes and ensure adherence to academic standards and fairness in faculty progression.
- Budget Planning: Leads the academic budgeting process, reviews proposals from deans and academic units, and submits for final approval. Ensures the effective allocation of resources in support of academic priorities.
- Faculty Evaluation & Staffing Decisions: Reviews faculty performance evaluations with Vice Presidents and deans, then finalizes decisions on new appointments, contract renewals, and terminations in line with university policies.
- Governance & Policy Development: Oversees the periodic review and update of academic bylaws and serves as the primary liaison with the Supreme Council of Universities (SCU) and the Council of National Universities (CNU).
- Academic Program Development: Leads the planning and approval process for new academic programs and schools. Ensures timely submission and accreditation of proposed programs.
- Academic Integrity: Safeguards the integrity and quality of academic conduct at all levels, promoting a culture of ethical scholarship and responsible research.
- Postgraduate Program Oversight: Provides strategic oversight of postgraduate programs to ensure academic rigor, relevance, and alignment with global standards, promotes scholarly productivity across all disciplines, and fosters a culture of innovation, publication, and competitive grant acquisition.
III. Qualifications
- Must hold the academic rank of Professor for a minimum of five years.
- Demonstrated excellence in academic leadership at the level of Dean, Vice Provost, or equivalent.
- Proven experience in academic planning, budgeting, faculty affairs, and policy development.
- Strong understanding of the Egyptian higher education system, including accreditation and regulatory frameworks.
- Familiarity with international standards in academic quality assurance and global university rankings.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills in both English and Arabic.
- A collaborative, transparent, and facilitative leadership style committed to shared governance.
- An exceptional communicator, skilled in public speaking, negotiation, and stakeholder engagement.
- Displays an approachable, confident, and collaborative leadership style that builds trust and inspires teams.
- An innovative and agile problem-solver, capable of turning challenges into strategic opportunities.
- A skilled fundraiser with a strong record of securing funding from diverse sources and building advocacy for institutional priorities.
