Aspen Leadership Group is proud to partner with Florida International University in the search for a Senior Director of Development, Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine.
Reporting to the Associate Dean of Development, Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine, the Senior Director of Development will oversee and manage a disciplinary-focused fundraising portfolio of individuals, corporations and foundations, overseeing cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship activities. They will collaborate with Deans, Center, Institute, and Initiative Directors, academic leadership, University faculty, researchers, and administrators to identify, coordinate, and develop strategic funding opportunities. Additionally, the Senior Director will provide management-level support for capacity-building projects and initiatives, increasing the productivity and success of the Development team and collaborate with development staff to maintain knowledge of trends in philanthropy in order to inform opportunities for support of College and University programs.

Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine, (HWCOM) at FIU is a community-based, twenty-first-century medical school located in Miami, Florida, with an innovative medical education curriculum. The college was established in 2006, enrolled its first medical students in 2009, and was granted full accreditation by the Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME) in 2013. HWCOM is an academic, clinical, and research affiliate of Baptist Health South Florida and Nicklaus Children’s Hospital. By working collaboratively to respond to the health needs of patients and communities, their college is preparing students to become socially accountable physicians, scientists, and health professionals who can serve the South Florida community.
A bachelor’s degree and ten years of fundraising, sales, or related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required for this position. Experience in health care, higher education or the non-profit sector and an understanding of individual giving and/or corporate and foundation relations is a plus. The salary range for this position is $150,000 to $170,000 annually.
