Lindsey Wilson University (LWU), a United Methodist affiliated university located in south central Kentucky, invites applications for an Instructor or Assistant Professor of Theatre to begin in January 2026. Located on more than 200 partially wooded acres on a hilltop in Columbia, Kentucky, LWU is in the heart of south-central Kentucky, in the foothills of Appalachia. Within an hour of Columbia, you will find multiple opportunities for outdoor recreation. Lindsey Wilson is located near several major tourist attractions including Lake Cumberland, Mammoth Cave National Park, and Cumberland Falls. It is also less than two hours from the cultural opportunities available in Louisville, KY and Nashville, TN.
The preferred candidate will hold a terminal degree (MFA, Ph.D.) from an accredited institution with the ability to teach a range of Theatre courses; ABD will be considered. The successful candidate will have extensive experience in the technical aspects of theatre productions and will serve as the technical director with responsibility for all scenic and lighting elements of live theatre productions. They will work with theatre students on all aspects of scenery construction, fabrication and assembly. They will also work with theatre students on all aspects of lighting and provide lead supervision and guidance to student workers and volunteers. The successful candidate must demonstrate a commitment to teaching, academic advising, ongoing professional development, collaboration with other faculty, and service.
