Description
The Department of Business, Government & Society (BGS) at the University of Texas at Austin’s McCombs School of Business invites applications for an assistant professor (tenure track) position in nonmarket strategy effective August 16, 2026. We are particularly interested in candidates whose research focuses on corporate political activity, including but not limited to money in politics, sociopolitical activism, and regulation, and we are open as to geographic focus.
The BGS department (https://www.mccombs.utexas.e du/departments/BGS) teaches future leaders at all levels of McCombs’ curriculum how to recognize and respond to the political, social, legal, and ethical expectations that businesses face. BGS aims to contribute to important public policy debates in these and related areas through research that applies rigorous social science methods to relevant nonmarket strategy questions.

Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a Ph.D. prior to the start date in economics, political science, sociology, or strategic management and be prepared to publish in top outlets in these fields. The primary teaching responsibilities for this position will be corporate political strategy at the undergraduate, MBA, and EMBA levels, as well as the department’s new undergraduate core class in nonmarket strategy.
