Delgado Community College is seeking an innovative, student-centered advocate to serve as the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs. This position reports directly to the Chancellor and serves as the chief student affairs officer for the College. As the Chief Student Affairs Officer for the College, the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs provides leadership, vision, and direction for a comprehensive array of student affairs initiatives and departments. This leader directs the work of Student Affairs and must work collaboratively with the Office of Academic Affairs to promote an innovative and effective interdepartmental relationship between the two units.

This key leadership position will be responsible for working with all directors and administrative personnel that fall within the Student Affairs area to expand and implement programs that will improve student recruitment, success, well-being, and engagement, with a focus on leveraging technology, data, enrollment, retention,graduation rates and innovative practices to create a supportive environment for all students.

Reporting directly to the Chancellor, the position serves as a member of the Executive Team, working collaboratively toward the achievement of institutional goals and objectives.

The Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs will:

  • Improve student outcomes through college-wide benchmarks that aresupported by every academic school, department, and unit of the College
  • Prepare and manage budgets consistent with strategic goals and institutional outcomes
  • Supervise all Student Affairs departments
  • Provide oversight for and collaborate with the Student Affairs Team and the Office of Academic Affairs to develop and implement short-term and long-term enrollment management plans
  • Initiate and direct enrollment operations and ensures consistency in the development and implementation of enrollment services and experiences on all campuses and sites
  • Understand the enrollment process and develop strategic initiatives to grow enrollment
  • Ensure all student affairs departments are fully aligned with the larger mission, vision, values, and goals of the institution and the Louisiana Community and Technical College System
  • Oversee efforts in identifying and implementing creative recruitment strategies designed to meet student enrollment goals
  • Set enrollment targets and develops strategies to ensure the College meets those targets
  • Develop and review policies related to student affairs
  • Address the growing need for mental health support and resources for students
  • Encourage collaboration across different student affairs units to address complex student needs and promote innovation
  • Regularly assess programs and services, and make improvements based on data and student feedback
  • Utilize data to identify student needs and trends, inform interventions, and measure the effectiveness of programs and services
  • Seek to streamline enrollment processes utilizing national best practices
  • Constantly conduct internal evaluations of processes to determine if changes should be made to meet the needs of students and to remove barriers to student access
  • Provide input and guidance to decision makers including the Chancellor, Executive Team, System Office, LCTCS Board of Supervisors, and Board of Regents
  • Streamline compliance processes and requirements to reduce administrative burden and allow more focus on student education and support
  • Demonstrate an effective blend of patience, persistence, compassion, and urgency coupled with the ability to listen, model collaboration, set goals, and lead efforts to address difficult challenges for the good of the College and the System
  • Perform all duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Chancellor

Required Education:

  • Doctorate from a regionally-accredited university

Required Qualifications:

  • Experience in working at a large, comprehensive community college or university
  • Minimum of six (6) years of executive leadership experience in a community college or university setting
  • Demonstrated experience in increasing student access/enrollment as well as increasing retention, transfer, and graduation rates of students
  • Demonstrated leadership evidenced by the successful implementation of student success initiatives derived from campus innovations and nationalinitiatives
  • Demonstrated experience in working with student affairs administrators and staff on all aspects of program improvement, governance, and professionaldevelopment
  • Demonstrated levels of excellence in forming, cultivating, and maintaining strategic alliances with economic development organizations, businesses, educational institutions, and the community
  • Record of securing grants and external resources for programs and services
