EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Lincoln University of Missouri (LU) invites nominations and applications for the position of Vice President of Administration and Finance (CFO). THE OPPORTUNITY
The Vice President of Administration and Finance will be entrusted with steering Lincoln University’s financial strategy during a critical era of institutional momentum and innovation. As chief financial officer, the VP will:
- Oversee all finance, budgeting, and compliance activities, ensuring transparency, integrity, and accountability.
- Guide major infrastructure and technology investments to enhance operational efficiency and effectiveness.
- Foster strategic partnerships with local, state, and federal agencies to optimize funding opportunities.
- Contribute to the University’s long-term sustainability by implementing best practices in financial planning and risk management.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
Executive Leadership:
- Serve as the custodian of University funds and key financial advisor to the President and Board of Curators.
- Collaborate with senior leadership to advance the University’s mission, strategic plans, and financial objectives.
Financial Strategy and Management:
- Develop and implement comprehensive financial strategies.
- Oversee financial planning, reporting, budgeting, accounting, and investment management.
- Provide financial forecasts and analysis to drive strategic decision-making.
Operations Management:
- Supervise Payroll, Purchasing, Business Operations, and Campus Maintenance.
- Lead risk management initiatives and ensure robust insurance coverage.
- Negotiate and manage key contracts and vendor relationships.
Communication and Compliance:
- Communicate financial conditions and forecasts to internal and external stakeholders.
- Ensure full compliance with local, state, and federal financial regulations.
- Foster transparency and accountability across all financial operations.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND CHARACTERISTICS
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field required.
- Master’s degree preferred.
- CPA credential highly desirable.
Experience
- 7-9 years of progressive financial leadership experience required.
- 5-7 years at an executive level preferred, especially within higher education or public institutions. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Expertise in high-performance financial reporting, risk assessment, and resource allocation.
- Ability to lead change across diverse university departments.
- Advanced proficiency with Excel and financial systems.
- Exceptional communication skills to articulate financial insights to varied audiences.

- Ability to create standardized, accessible, and synchronized financial and operational systems.
- Strategic mindset focused on sustainability and growth.
Physical Demands
- Sedentary office work.
- Prolonged periods at a computer.
- Capacity to work extended hours and weekends as needed.
