General Description:
The Vice President for Enrollment Management (VPEM) at Mount St. Mary’s University serves as a key member of the President’s Cabinet and holds the critical role of Chief Admissions Officer. This leader oversees the Admissions and Financial Aid offices, spearheading efforts to attract, enroll, and retain a diverse and talented student body. The VPEM is responsible for driving enrollment growth through strategic, data-informed initiatives that align with the university’s mission and values. Additionally, the VPEM will develop forward-thinking recruitment strategies to address future challenges, navigating the complexities of the higher education landscape. Charged with achieving undergraduate enrollment targets, enhancing student retention, and elevating the university’s visibility and reputation, the VPEM will collaborate with an experienced and dynamic team, making a transformative impact on the university’s success and future.
Responsibilities:
1. Strategic Enrollment Leadership
o Develop and execute comprehensive strategies for recruitment, admissions, and retention across traditional, transfer, graduate, and international students.
o Facilitate data-driven decision-making, focusing on metrics and assessments to align with the university’s goals for enrollment, retention, and financial stability.
2. Admissions & Financial Aid Oversight
o Lead the Admissions and Financial Aid offices, ensuring efficient operations, resource management, and strategic financial aid leveraging to enhance access and affordability.
o Coordinate with Financial Aid and Registrar’s offices to streamline student services and maintain compliance with federal and state regulations.
3. Market Research & Program Development
o Conduct and interpret market research and demographic data to align recruitment strategies with prospective students’ needs.
o Collaborate with the Vice President for Academic Affairs, Academic Deans, and departments on program design and targeted marketing initiatives.
4. Recruitment & Retention Management
o Implement a comprehensive enrollment plan, including strategies for improving student retention and completion.
o Engage and lead cross-functional teams to support high-quality recruitment, admissions processes, and systems (e.g., CRM).
5. Collaboration and Engagement
o Partner with the Marketing to coordinate advertising, branding, and publication needs for the Enrollment Management division.
o Collaborate on diversity and inclusion initiatives, recruiting international and military/veteran students, and expanding ESL and summer programming.
6. Budget and Resource Stewardship
o Manage budgets for enrollment management functions, ensuring effective allocation of resources to support university-wide strategic priorities.
o Develop and monitor financial plans in collaboration with the Financial Aid office to support recruitment and aid distribution efforts.
7. Campus Leadership and Representation
o Serve on the President’s Senior Staff, contributing insights to institutional planning and representing the university in external enrollment-related matters.
o Support the Student Affairs team during new student summer orientation and welcome week activities.
Job Requirements: Education, Experience, and Skills

- Bachelor’s degree required; master’s degree preferred, with 10 years of progressively responsible experience in Admissions, Enrollment Management, or a related field.
- Exceptional leadership skills, with a proven ability to lead and inspire a collaborative team.
- Hands-on experience using Slate or similar CRM software to enhance recruitment efforts, optimize communication strategies, and track key enrollment metrics.
- Demonstrated success in implementing effective and inclusive recruitment strategies in competitive markets.
- Strong understanding of contemporary methods, data analytics, and technology in strategic enrollment management.
- Proven ability to execute long-term vision and strategic goals through collaboration with key stakeholders.
- Outstanding diplomacy skills, including tact, sound judgment, courage of convictions, and a commitment to education and community.
- Excellent organizational, planning, and multitasking abilities.
- Demonstrated skill in team building and the ability to engage and motivate a diverse staff.
- Strong financial acumen, with experience in budgeting, managing, and allocating funds equitably and effectively.
- Excellent communication skills, including proficiency in writing, personal interaction, and public speaking.
- Ability to build positive relationships and work effectively with individuals across all age levels and backgrounds.
- Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as required by the role.
