Wentworth Institute of Technology is seeking applicants for positions in the School of Computing and Data Science as Visiting Assistant Professors of Foundational Mathematics for the 2025-26 academic year.

The School of Computing & Data Science consists of 30+ full-time faculty that offer undergraduate majors in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, IT, Data Science, and Applied Mathematics and graduate degrees in Computer Science, Data Science, and Cybersecurity. The school has teaching and research strengths in artificial intelligence, data science, cybersecurity, high-performance computing, mobile/web application development, stochastic processes, dynamical systems, financial math and modeling. In addition, members of the school have close collaborative relationships with faculty in sciences, humanities, and electrical and computer engineering, among others.

Our faculty comprises individuals from wide-ranging backgrounds and experiences, where collaboration is highly encouraged and supported, and our School has no department boundaries. Another point of pride is that our faculty members include those with significant industrial, consulting, entrepreneurial, and project management experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Teach undergraduate first year foundational mathematics courses.
  • Engage and support first year students during the transition to the higher education learning community.
  • Develop and provide learning experiences commiserate with a student ready approach to foundational mathematics.
  • Attend and contribute to weekly course coordination meetings.
  • Participate in programmatic continuous improvement plans.
  • Engage in proactive communication with academic support, academic advising, and tutoring divisions as needed.
  • Participate in early grading initiatives.
  • Create course manuals as needed for accreditation.

Minimum Requirements:

  • M.S. in Mathematics, Mathematics Education, or related discipline.
  • Demonstrated success in teaching at the undergraduate foundational mathematics courses.
  • Demonstrated experiences using learner-centered and active learning approaches for instruction.
  • Ability to demonstrate a commitment to working effectively with faculty, staff, and students from diverse ethnic, cultural, and socioeconomic backgrounds.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in Mathematics, Mathematics Education, or related discipline.
