Position Description

The Department of History at the College of Charleston invites applications for a Visiting Assistant Professor with expertise in medieval or early modern history (roughly 1100-1700 C.E.), geographical region open, to begin the Fall semester of 2025. The position is for one year but is renewable. The successful candidate will teach four sections of the 100-level general education pre-modern history requirement each semester. The general education classes are organized thematically, around the professor’s scholarly interests, rather than as a traditional world or western civ. course. There may also be opportunities to teach upper-division or graduate courses. All requirements for the Ph.D. in History must be completed by August 15, 2025.
