Description
The Department of Theatre, Dance, and Film Studies invites applications for a one-year, full-time Visiting Assistant Professor of Theatre as a sabbatical replacement. The department believes that theatre, dance, and film are essential forms of human expression that celebrate creative collaboration and critical engagement with our world. Through the study of the practice and history of these forms, students develop an aesthetic appreciation for art and culture, learn flexible problem-solving methods, acquire diverse communication skills, and employ creative collaborative processes.

The candidate will be a collaborative and innovative thinker and creator whose primary focus is student success. The artist/scholar will teach six courses distributed over Fall and Winter terms (12 weeks each), including courses in the current curriculum in introduction to theatre, script analysis, playwriting/screenwriting, theatre history, and a course in a topic related to their area of expertise. The candidate will direct one pre-selected mainstage student production as one of these courses. The appointment begins July 1, 2025.

Qualifications
An M.F.A. or PhD in theatre is required by the time of appointment. Directing experience at the collegiate level is required and doing so at a small liberal arts college is highly desirable. Teaching experience at the collegiate level in theatre history, script analysis, and playwriting/screenwriting is required.
