Job description

We seek a passionate educator with a unique approach to teaching art, someone eager to integrate traditional methods with innovative techniques. Ideal candidate should possess a strong educational background in art, hands-on teaching experience and a commitment to continuous professional development. The candidate should be willing to instruct varied course offerings to students in both theory and art practice: Drawing 1 and 2, two (2) and three (3) dimensional design, Art Appreciation, The Black Aesthetic or Art History.

Essential Job Duties

  • Develop and manage syllabus materials.
  • Selecting and compiling tests, assignments and/or online discussion exercises that permit measurement of performance relative to standardized learning objectives.
  • Coordinate courseware and curriculum with academic department chair.
  • Review any textbook and other courseware changes with the academic department chair and other full-time faculty teaching the course.
  • Facilitate Class Instruction.
  • Teach the assigned classes in accordance with learning objectives and session plan outlines as specified by Tuskegee University.
  • Administer evaluations of student performance based on course deliverables and course rubrics.
  • Participate in non-teaching assignments including instructional development, academic advising, registration assignments, college-wide and/or division activities and committees, professional development, internal and external service.
  • Other assigned responsibilities determined in consultation with the dean and department head.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Candidate should have a terminal degree in fine art (MFA)

Physical Demands

  • Ability to comfortably lift up to 10lb
  • Ability to operate standard office equipment
  • Ability to walk short distances
  • Ability to lift and carry parcels, packages and other items
  • Ability to view a computer terminal
